Background

I have family roots stretching all the way from Galway, Ireland. My ancestors came across the great open sea to land on the shores of Souris, PEI where I grew up and perhaps received my inspiration to begin carving. I spend my summers at Fossil Farms in Egerton, NS, a beautiful seasonal location overlooking Merigomish Harbor with vineyards in the background. For now, winters may involve traveling and looking for locations to carve. I always had an interest in carving and admire the creativity and artistic skills of people who work with wood. If I am not carving, you may find me cycling or along the coastline paddling my kayak during the summer, or out in the woods hiking/snow shoeing in the cooler months.

My road to creating faces and other carvings began following a number of carving courses taken from a well known master carver in my areas and later from a carver in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, Quebec and most recently Windsor, Ontario.  Carving started off as a hobby but quickly evolved into an enjoyable past-time to be shared with others. My specialties are male and female characters. Each one is unique, and rarely resembles the previous carving as I never know what lies beneath the bark until I get started.
