I have family roots stretching all the way from Galway, Ireland. My ancestors came across the great open sea to land on the shores of Souris, PEI where I grew up and perhaps received my inspiration to begin carving. I presently reside with my family in New Glasgow, NS, where I now practice my craft. I always had an interest in carving and admire the creativity and artistic skills of people who work with wood. If Iām not in my shop carving, you may find me cycling or along the coastline paddling my kayak during the summer, or out in the woods cross country skiing or hiking/snow shoeing in the cooler months.
My road to creating faces and other carvings began following a number of carving courses taken from a well known master carver in my areas and later from a nationally known carver in Quebec. Carving started off as a hobby but quickly evolved into an enjoyable past-time to be shared with others. My specialty is male and female face characters. Each one is unique, and rarely resembles the previous carving as I never know what lies beneath the bark until I get started.
